Bastion pieces that are giving people fits

Ok guys here is a picture of the 2 pieces that come with the GW Bastion kits, they are used "to join two bastions together" or some such according to the instructions in the kit. Anyway they are used to join 2 floor sections together from 2 kits, or in my case used to fill the gaps on one set of the lower floor section at the base of the tower when putting 2 bastions together.
