28mm OG mounted Samurai and Ashigaru archers

I finished these up several days ago along with some foot Samurai which I will post later.  These are Old Glory from the Samurai line, which I find very good.  These were finished with Warlord Games Strong tone dip brushed on as I usually do.  I am debating doing some hi lighting on the brighter colors to make them stand out more.  I did do this on the foot Samurai I will post later, so you will be able to see the difference.

28mm OG Mounted Samurai Bowman

I decided to skip all the WIP posts for obvious reasons and just post the final result prior to basing.  These are OG Mounted Samurai Bowmen.  I do like the OG figures in their Samurai range they appear to be better than a lot of the other ranges IMHO.  These are painted up for the Sengaku period but not specific to any army yet, although I do have 2 armies in mind as I generally have to build both sides of the table forces wise so to speak. These were "dipped" using Warlord Games quick  shade strong tone.  Anyway here they are.

Just some WIP pics as I have not posted anything for a while.

I have been working on the French 4th Line Lancers along with British and French command stands.  These are AB miniatures for the French the Marshall's and Generals and the ADC sets. The British command I think is Old Glory, I have had them for a awhile and can not remember. The round one is "Old Nosie" and the Line Lancers are AB.  After I get done with these I am going to finished up my ECW Newcastle White Coats... so with me lick on those, I will be dipping them...

15mm Old Glory French Line Infantry and AB mini's order

Ok so I just finished painting this unit for my French Nappies and thought I had better post pics as I have not posted anything in a while.  Also My FLGS owner just ordered me a ton of AB Nappies about $400.00 worth, part should be here Monday and part later in the week.  I got a bunch of French cav(Lancers, Dragoons) and some legere units as well as line infantry and then got several Brit line infantry units, 2 units of Cacadores, 3 units of light dragoons some RHA battery's among other stuff. These units are the Lasalle units packs. So I will be painting a bunch of AB units for a while instead of my usual Old Glory.  Anyway here is the Line unit I painted up and finshed sans flocking today.

Cheers.

Old Glory 28mm ECW Demi-Cannon

Just finished this gun and crew as well as finished the basing and anti-shine last night.  I used the Army-Painter Dark Tone then high-lighted everything after that and did any detail work that was needed before moving on to the base.  I have painted this for my Royalist army but it could be used for Parliamentarian's as well, given the nature of the ECW.  I wanted to thank Saxon Dog yet again for his blog and the help I got from it.  Anyway here is the gun and crew...enjoy. :)

New Commision 15mm Mini Figs Late Prussian army

I just got a commission from the FLGS owner here in town that happens to be one of my best friends.  Anyway the first batch I will be doing up is 3 Prussian Infantry Units and 1 Landwehr unit.  These are to be based as Lasalle units.  These from the my closest guess would be mini-fig figures.  After these are done I have some Old Glory and Essex Cavalry that he may want from my stock to be painted up. I discovered that the cavalry that he had gotten were mostly French and or  Early Jena Prussian Hussars etc. So he will need more cav.  Also I pointed him in the direction of AB's website for Artillery and showed him what he should get, that being 2 Horse battery's, 2 Foot battery's and 1 Heavy battery.  Also I have a bag of AB Prussian generals that I had doubles of that he may want for me to paint up for him.  So here are the pics of the figs cleaned up and re-primed black, they were mounted as they are but will be rebased after painting.  Cheers Gary check back here regularly for updates...

15mm Old Glory 4th and 5th French Hussars final

I just finished these minus the flocking as I am still waiting on the materials, anyway I was NOT happy with these castings at all! They were very, very rough almost like they were pulled out of the mold before they had cured after pouring. They actually wore out a new fine brush when painting them!  I know that is hard to believe but I got a new brush for these on Wednesday and it is already tip curled and the bristles will no longer come to a point.  Yes I clean my brush's thoroughly and am very careful to draw tips out on a piece of paper towel pulling away from the base of the brush when doing this.  Point is I have never worn a brush out in 4 days on  24 figures!  So either the brush was defective or the mini's are as I said and just poor castings.  Either way here they are, I really do like the color scheme of the 4th Hussars but am not sure of the final look of the 5th.  Anyway here they are, I will have to get some AB French Hussars to see the difference between them...

The French 5th Hussars.  I hope you like them... I do not but oh well...

15mm OG French 4th Hussars Update #1

Well I had forgotten that I had these guys mounted, primed and ready to paint, but I found them yesterday in my pre-painting storage area I have for mini's that have been cleaned up, mounted, primed and ready for paint.  Anyway I decided to paint these guys up as the 4th French Hussars as I really like that color scheme.  I also have some other French Hussars that are Essex I believe and with the later style cylindrical shako's that  I will be painting up as well. I have not figured out which unit I will make them but I am thinking either the 2nd, the 3rd or the 6th Hussars. They just have their base colors on them with no details so far.  Anyway here are the 4th...

15mm OG French 5th Hussars Update #2

Ok so I have been only able to work on these guys just a little bit, but here they are so far.  I am not sure if this blue is the correct blue for the French 5th Hussars but from what I can tell it looks close.  perhaps one of you chaps know and could tell me if this blue I am using on them is right?  You may notice some other hussars to the left, well they are the 4th and I will post some images of them shortly, I had forgotten that I had mounted them and they were in my storage area for figures ready to prime or paint, anyway that is who the dark blue and red are.

15mm Old Glory Suisse Infantry Update #1

well these guys have been knocking about for a bit so I thought I had better start finishing them.  In case you are wondering why there are NO 28mm ECW mini's here yet, well I can blame that on my mate Galpy in NZ.  He is the one that convinced me to get the new AB's I have but I told my self to finish this suisse unit first.  So anyway here is the first update on them.

Cheers...

OG Polish Lancers done! Good enough for the table top

Ok so I took a little bit of time to touch these up and flock them, but I feel their best asset is "distance". LOL  I can not wait for my Wargames Foundry paints to get here so I can paint up some 28mm stuff, I am actually fairly good at painting them.  This little stuff ie 15mm is hard on my "getting old eyes" and my 3yr old prescription for my glasses.  Anyway I just need to let the flock dry, put a flag on them and clear coat them and they will be done.  Next I am doing some Swiss line infantry in French service, there is just something cool about a red coated unit in the French army.  In Lasalle you can not have more than 1 Swiss unit per division of troops, so I thought I would do just one.  I will post pictures on them when finished.

The last 2 15mm units I am going to do for a bit. I will be Moving onto painting my ECW stuff.

Okay so here are the last 2 units I am going to paint 15mm wise for a little while. I have kinda gotten my fill of 15mm, after having done both of my ACW armies north and south, and then British and French Napoleonics, I need to move on to doing some 25/28mm stuff.  I have been building up my ECW stuff for a bit and also have a lot of 28mm Napoleonics to paint, but I think I will work on my ECW.  I think I need to paint enough to play a game with the rules I have called 1644 by Rick Priestly.  My FLGS had some "left over" Old Glory ECW stuff laying around her shop and gave me a HUGE discount on them, I MEAN HUGE!!!  Anyway I could not resist so I think I have enough to start playing once painted up.  I really like the period of ECW, it is different from ACW and Napoleonics in both painting and gaming.  So without further ado here are the last 2 15mm units to be done for a bit.

British 10th Hussars
and a unit of Polish Lancers
Cheers...

Yet more 15mm French Infantry...

I just finished painting these up and just based them, waiting for the glue to dry so that I can flock them.  They are Old Glory figures and are pretty nice with the exception of the some what exaggerated positions they are in.  There is also one consistent problem I have had with Old Glory 15mm Figures and that is SHORT BANNER POLES!!!  When you have these tiny banner poles you are reduced to TINY flags, which just looks stupid! Anyway That done, I now have 7 French Infantry units done, 1-Old Guard, 1-Legere and 5 Line Regiments/Units/???  depending on the rules you use.   They are based for Lasalle but would work for Age of Eagles or Foundry's Napoleon.  Yes I know that the Napoleon rules are meant for 25/28mm but if you halve the ranges and move distances it should work just fine. Again these were painted more for speed of production than high quality. I will reserve high quality for my 28mm stuff.

15mm Old Glory and Essex British Artillery

I finished these before I did the French Cuirassiers but for got to post them to the blog. They are a mix of Essex and Old Glory for the Cannon and Old Glory for the crews.  I tried getting as close as I could with this camera so that perhaps the detail that I did showed up.  I think these turned out pretty good and the combo of the red and yellow on the uniforms with the blue is a striking combination.

15mm Old Glory French 8th Cuirassiers

I just finished these up today, they are the French 8th Cuirassiers regiment.  I have not painted the trumpeter yet as I have conflicting color schemes for him, some say green, 1 said an Emerald Green color and another said that they can/should be the same color as the rest of the unit.  If anyone knows this, please let me know.  The models themselves do not have carbines but I am modelling them for Quatre Bra as that is what I am basing my armies on to build them up.  Anyway here they are...
Again sorry about the crappy pics, I have camera issues - e.g. mine sucks!

Back to Napoleonics...

While I was working on the Titan, I was painting these guys.  This is the first 2 of 7 Regiments I have to paint along with 2 Regiments of Bavarian' s,1 Regiment of French Guard de Honour, 3 regiments of French Hussars, 1 Regiment of Polish Lancers, 1 Regiment of Cuirasiers, a bunch of  British Cavalry, some Hanoverian and Brunswick infantry as well as Artillery for both sides and then I should be ready for some gaming.  Then I can move onto painting either my 28mm ECW stuff or my 28mm Napoleonics.  Whatever strikes me when done with all the 15mm stuff.  God I will never be done!!! ;)

25mm ACW OLD GLORY Rebel Infantry

Here are a couple of stands I have been painting up for my 25/28mm ACW games. I have been using Johnny Reb III and once you get past the lousy rules layout of the game, it is very fun to play. Anyway here is one Regiment I have finished so for of a 12figure Regiment.

15mm Old Glory Seleucid Argyraspides in progress

Well here is some of my miniatures I have been working on for a while. In these images are my 15mm Seleucid Argyraspides, they are Old Glory and mounted for Fields of Glory. Over all I think the figures are splendid but I have never taken a liking to the metal pikes that are supplied with these figures. I think they turned out ok, I am still working on the shield emblems. I have the first shield done in the center of the first rank as a test piece. Anyway what do you think?
